Hi, I'm Mikaela.

a Lifestyle Family Photographer based in Muskegon, Michigan.

I’m so glad you’re here!

My journey began in 2019, when I bought my first mirrorless camera to document the weeks my husband and I spent in Utah and Arizona soaking up breathtaking landscapes and the small, quiet moments as a newly married couple on our honeymoon. Upon returning home, my memory card began to fill with pictures of birds and backyard visitors, our new puppy, and casual family gatherings at home.

After becoming a mother in 2021, I learned how quickly time passes and how precious the smallest moments are. I honed my camera skills more as photography became a way of holding onto the everyday magic (and messiness) of life. What began as a way to document the beauty of natural landscapes and adventures with my husband, grew into capturing little moments before they disappeared. My memory cards began to fill with pictures of my baby's tiny ears, hands, and feet; her milk drunk stupor; first smile; monthly growth updates; and the many fleeting expressions that tell a story all their own.

Over time, that personal passion grew into something bigger as I began to take photographs for a few family members. I found myself drawn to documenting genuine connection: the laughter, the tenderness, the chaos of toddlerhood and childhood, and everything beautifully imperfect in between. Those moments reminded me how important it is to document the people who shape our stories, exactly as they are in this moment. Not just the posed milestones, but the relaxed moments of connection that make us who we are.

While I kept my photography close to family as I developed my skills and confidence, I was continually encouraged to offer my services to more people. In 2026, 7 years after I first picked up a camera, I finally took the leap and officially formed Mikaela Grace Photography, LLC.  I am keeping my bookings closed for the beginning of 2026, as I fully embrace this season of growth, expand my portfolio, and refine the experience I want to offer each family I work with.  These early sessions are filled with heart, learning, and so much joy as I shape the vision for my new business.  Soon, I will be able to extend all the heart I’ve invested into learning how to capture moments for my family, to families like yours.

If my work resonates with you, and you would like to be the first to know when I begin booking new clients, I’d love to keep in touch! Join my email list below to receive updates, and early booking opportunities. I’d be honored to help you slow down and hold onto the moments that make your days meaningful.

Let’s create something beautiful together.

-Mikaela
